If you google some of the names like Tilly, Richelieu, Christian and most importantly Wallenstein, you will notice that in this leg of the race with a historical theme, we are talking about the 30 years war, one of the most important religious war in Christian history. There are 3 significance to this war.

1. It finally acknowledged the Reformed as one of the main forces in Europe, alongside the Lutheran and the Catholic. The Peace of Augsburg is now renewed to become the Peace of Westphalia.

2. The painful effects of a religious war became apparent to the political/ religious refugees in America, leading to the rise of Denominationalism.

3. The extensive devastation lead to a change in balance of power for many of the traditional European heavyweights like Spain.

Comments on the clue:
This clue is what is commonly termed as a Rock-Scissors-Paper clue. The direction of the path is indicated by deducing which is the winning side. Future game designers can use different versions of competition to indicate participants how to navigate themselves. I used war for this clue, but it could easily be changed to for example, the food chain (grass-lamb-wolf-tiger), as long as there is a clear winning side.
